California Speed Week Captures 2 wins for Forsberg
On Friday June 29th was the start of 6 nights of racing in 9 days with Andy pulling double duty one night. On Friday June 29th Andy and the Forsberg Family #92 headed to Chico, CA for a 360 points show, Andy was 5th quick out of 18 cars, ran 3rd in his heat race and would start on the pole of the A main event. Andy jumped to an early lead and for the first 15 laps left the pack but heavy lapped traffic would cause Andy some trouble and he would lose the lead. With laps winding down and the white flag flying Andy would try one last attempt coming off turn 4 on the high scary side to take the lead and the win, Andy passed the checkered timing loop in the lead with a 3 wide photo finish but with severe damage to the rear end and a flat left rear tire to get win #7 of the year.
On Saturday June 30th Andy was in Placerville CA driving the F&F X1 for a SCCT race and the A&A Stepping Stone #92 410 for a King of the West show. Andy was 8th quick out of 23 cars in the A&A Stepping Stone #92 410. Andy finished 3rd in his heat race and started 9th in the feature event. On lap 5 Andy jumped the cushion and bounced to a stop and would have to tag the rear of the field and was able to only get back up to a 15th place finish as the last 25 laps went non-stop. With the SCCT portion of the night Andy was in the F&F X1, he set quick time in his group, won his heat race, won the dash to put him on the pole of the A main event, unfortunately the pole was not the place to be and by the end of lap 1 Andy was already back in 3rd place, he made some good charges for 2nd throughout the race but would end up with a 3rd place podium finish with the SCCT Series.
